Reflection
Against the powerful backdrop of Ndinguye Endinguye ("I AM that I AM" - Exodus 3:14), let me share an intriguing thought on wisdom. When God created humanity, He had a unique vision—a family that reflects His image, thoughts, words, and actions. This might seem like a radical idea, but it's one that could shake religious foundations and even provoke opposition. Remember how the enemy reacted when Jesus declared His unity with God? (John 10:30-33)
🌿 The Original Plan: Adam, Jesus, and Restoration
Do you ever wonder why Jesus is called the "second and last Adam" in 1 Corinthians 15:45-47? It’s because Jesus came to fulfill the purpose Adam was initially created for. Had Adam succeeded, Jesus would not have needed to come. But because Adam faltered, Jesus stepped in to restore humanity's place in God’s perfect design. Through Jesus, the "last Adam," believers are restored to the righteousness that Adam lost.
In this new family of believers, we are not just followers of Christ; we are part of His body, with Him as the head (1 Corinthians 12:12; Colossians 1:18). Just as the head needs the body and vice versa, we are an extension of Christ on earth. This connection means we inherit the wisdom that comes from God—wisdom that we can apply in our lives.
🧠 Types of Wisdom: Spiritual and Practical
Spiritual Wisdom (Colossians 1:9-10)
Key Verse: “We ask God to give you complete knowledge of His will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.”
God desires to fill us with spiritual wisdom, and He’s ready to give it abundantly. According to James 1:5-6, all we have to do is ask with unwavering faith, and He grants us wisdom without judgment. This wisdom is a gift that allows us to live in alignment with God’s intentions for our lives.
Practical Wisdom (Ephesians 1:17-18)
Key Verse: “May God give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, may the eyes of your understanding be enlightened.”
Practical wisdom guides us in our daily lives, helping us make decisions and act in ways that honor God. This wisdom affects our relationships, our choices, and our journey toward our purpose. It helps us know when to speak, how to act, and when to step back. Remember 1 Samuel 18:14-16—wisdom guided David, leading to his success and favor with people.
🌼 Qualities of Godly Wisdom (James 3:17)
Let’s explore the nature of true wisdom, as outlined in James 3:17:
Pure ✨: Godly wisdom is uncontaminated and clean.
Peaceable 🕊️: It fosters harmony and calm.
Gentle 💖: It is kind and considerate.
Willing to Yield 🤲: Ready to listen and adapt.
Full of Mercy 💞: Compassionate and forgiving.
Good Fruits 🍇: It leads to fruitful, righteous actions.
These qualities show us what divine wisdom looks like in practice. When we embody these traits, we reflect God’s wisdom in our lives.
🌍 Godly Wisdom vs. Worldly Wisdom
The Bible makes it clear that there is a distinct difference between wisdom from above and wisdom from below (James 3:13-18). Let’s take a closer look:
Wisdom from Above 🌤️ | Wisdom from Below 🌧️ |
Gentle and generous | Selfish ambition |
Speaks the truth | Speaks lies and deceives |
Pure and organized | Disorderly and demonic |
Results in peace | Results in disharmony |
Reasonable | Self-centered |
Godly wisdom is marked by humility, generosity, and peace. Worldly wisdom, on the other hand, is often rooted in jealousy and selfish ambition. When we choose to live by God’s wisdom, we sow seeds of peace and integrity, which lead to lasting harmony and purpose.
💬 Closing Thoughts: Living by Wisdom
Wisdom isn’t just knowledge; it’s a way of life that aligns us with God’s design. As Romans 10:14-15 (KJV) beautifully puts it, “How shall they hear without a preacher?” This message is a reminder that each of us is called to live in a way that reflects God’s wisdom to the world, so others may find peace and truth.
So, let’s embrace God’s timeless wisdom. Let it guide our steps, shape our words, and inspire our actions.
Until I write again, stay blessed. 🌟
