Prayer Revivals
If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalm 11:3)
STIRRING A REVIVAL OF PRAYER:
A CALL TO HUMILITY, FAITH, AND ACTION
Scripture: If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalm 11:3)
In these times of chaos and uncertainty, it is essential to stir a revival of prayer. As Psalm 11:3 reminds us, if the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? We must turn to prayer, for it is the means by which we communicate with God and draw closer to Him. By engaging in prayer, we can experience the transformative power of prayer and witness revival in our own lives and in the world around us.
The biblical meaning of the verse "If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?" (Psalm 11:3) is that the stability of society is threatened when its foundational values and principles are corrupted or destroyed. The righteous, or the people who uphold these values and principles, are left wondering what they can do in the face of such destruction. The verse highlights the importance of protecting the foundations of society, which are often rooted in God's principles, and the crucial role that the righteous must play in preserving them.
Prayer has been a crucial element of revivals throughout history. In the Bible, we find numerous examples of God's people crying out to Him in prayer, and as a result, He brings revival. By praying for revival, we are asking God to revive and restore us and our churches. We want Him to stir up His people and draw them back to Himself. In 2 Chronicles 7:14, the Lord gives us a promise that if we humble ourselves, pray, and turn from our evil ways, He will hear us from heaven and heal our land.
Here are a few reasons why we need to stir a revival of prayer:
-
Prayer brings us closer to God - As James 4:8 reminds us, "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you." Prayer is the means by which we communicate with God. By engaging in prayer, we draw closer to God and experience His presence in our lives.
-
Prayer transforms us - Prayer has the power to transform our hearts and minds. It changes our perspective, helping us to see the world through God's eyes. As Romans 12:2 instructs us, "Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
-
Prayer unites us - When we pray together, we are united in a common purpose and vision. It brings us together in community, and as Matthew 18:20 says, "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them."
-
Prayer empowers us - Prayer empowers us to do God's work in the world. It strengthens us and gives us the courage to carry out His will. As Ephesians 6:10 reminds us, "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might."
By stirring a revival of prayer, we can experience the transformative power of prayer in our lives and in the world around us. As we draw near to God, we are transformed and empowered to carry out His work. Let us follow the example of the early church in Acts 2:42 and devote ourselves to prayer, knowing that it has the power to change our hearts, minds, and communities.
Only God has the power to bring healing to our nation. The beginnings of great awakenings start with personal meetings with God. It is imperative that we each have a personal encounter with God and then connect our prayers to His divine purpose. It is impossible to create or force revival; it comes about when God's people align their prayers with His will. Let us initiate a revival of prayer and watch in awe as God works in miraculous ways. As we construct the altar and offer our prayers, we can trust in the omnipotent and fiery God to take action and bring about revival to our lives, churches, and communities
