🚶‍♀️ The Journey of Faith

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”2 Corinthians 5:7🖋️ Inspired by The Vines Expository Bible by Pastor Jerry VinesA Timeless Wisdom Reflection by Nomvula Rakolote

Life is a journey—and every one of us is walking it. But the question is: how are we walking?

👀 Are we walking by sight, guided only by what we see, feel, and understand?🙏 Or are we walking by faith, trusting the One who sees what we cannot?

Abraham (then Abram) gives us a beautiful model of how to walk this journey not just physically—but spiritually—with faith as your compass.

📣 1. The Call of Faith

📖 Genesis 12:1–3

“Now the Lord had said to Abram: ‘Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you... I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.’” — v.1–2

Faith often begins with a divine disruption—a moment when God says, “Leave what’s familiar and trust Me.”

God didn’t give Abram the full GPS coordinates. Just a direction. That's what faith looks like. You say yes even before you know the where, how, or when.

💡 Wisdom Learned:Sometimes the biggest blessings come after the boldest steps of obedience.

🛡️ 2. The Compliance of Faith

📖 Genesis 12:4–6

“So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him...” — v.4“Then Abram passed through the land... and the Canaanites were then in the land.” — v.6

Abraham went. No delay. No debate. That’s compliance—acting on God’s word without full understanding, but with full trust.

Even though the land was already occupied (hello, Canaanites!), he didn’t turn back. Faith doesn’t wait for the perfect conditions—it moves anyway.

💡 Wisdom Learned:Faith isn't proven by our feelings. It's proven by our footsteps.

🙌 3. The Confession of Faith

📖 Genesis 12:7–8

“Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, ‘To your descendants I will give this land.’ And there he built an altar to the Lord…” — v.7“And he moved… and built an altar there and called on the name of the Lord.” — v.8

Altars were Abram’s way of confessing his trust in God. They were declarations:📍 “God was here.”🛐 “God will continue to be with me.”

Every step forward was marked by worship, remembrance, and faith in the promise.

💡 Wisdom Learned:Confession is more than words—it’s how you mark your journey with trust.

🔄 Final Thought: Walking by Faith Isn’t Always Comfortable, But It’s Always Worth It

Walking by faith means:

  • Letting go of the map and trusting the Guide.

  • Obeying before understanding.

  • Praising even when you haven’t received the promise yet.

Abraham's journey teaches us that faith is both a walk and a witness—one that still speaks to us today.

📖 Hebrews 11:8“By faith Abraham obeyed… and went out, not knowing where he was

going.”

🙏 A Simple Prayer for the Journey

Lord,Thank You for calling me into a life of faith.Give me the courage to walk when You say go,the obedience to act even when it’s hard, and the grace to worship You along the way.Help me build altars of remembrance andremind me that I am never walking alone.Amen. ✨

✍️ Until I write again, Nomvula.
