Rediscovering Wisdom, Again and Again

Every time I read the book of Proverbs, I find myself doing the same thing — rearranging the verses to give them flow and structure, to draw out their deeper meaning. What starts as a simple reading becomes a process of recognising themes, grouping wisdom, and letting the chapter speak in a more connected way.

Take Proverbs 8, Take Proverbs 8, for example. I’ve already restructured it thematically, and it’s now become the opening scripture across all three of my books I’ve already restructured it thematically, and it’s now become the opening scripture across all three of my books. It lays the foundation so beautifully. There’s something profound about how it captures the voice of wisdom itself — how it places wisdom before creation, with God. And it reminds me that if God Himself sought wisdom, who am I not to do the same?

I thought that reflection was complete. But then this morning, I read Proverbs 21, and the same thing happened. I started to see the themes, the patterns, the structure that could emerge with just a little rearranging. It came alive in a new way, just like Proverbs 8 did.

And now I realise — this is just how the book of Proverbs works on me. It keeps unfolding. Each time I read it, another layer is revealed. And the verses I’ve drawn on across my work all seem to come together, piece by piece. I’ll be sharing more of those reflections in the coming days.
